First you'll be assigned to groups of four students. You will be given two days to complete this assignment. Your group will be responsible for creating a proposal focusing on the science, math and history involved in the journey that Lewis and Clark made across the United States.
- The group will have to decide which team members are responsible for different sections of the project. You as the student will be required to utilize science, math and history as you embark on your journey across the United States.
- You will be responsible for creating a list of supplies according to the length of the journey and different climates you will encounter. After discussing the intended route, food and supplies your group will be required to create ratios that relate their supplies to the individuals participating on the journey.
- The journey to Oregon will be a long and enduring road. The supplies you take at the beginning of the journey will not last for the entire trip. The second step of the journey will require you to locate each biome you will travel across. Your group will need to determine the species of plants and animals you will encounter on the way.
- After researching the different biomes, you will need to create a list of resources that your group will expect to encounter on your journey. After your rations have run dry your group will be expected to know where to locate food for the duration of the journey. This may change your decision on what you originally planned to take because you may be able to acquire those supplies on the way.
- The last section of report will require you to analyze where you can find the resources to buy manufacture or trade for boots.
- After this data has been collected your group will be responsible for creating a two page report. Your group will need to include pictures, a detailed map and food ratios during the presentation.
